Website Metrics For Business Owners: Audience Reports

This week we’ll be diving a bit into Audience reports available within Google Analytics. This area can provide a wealth of information on how people are viewing your site!

Device and browser traffic: This is a chart of what devices and browsers people are using to find your website. Are people using iPhones? iPads? Or are most visitors coming in via a desktop computer? Looking at device traffic helps when making the case for mobile or desktop optimization, or whether or not to go responsive. It’s always a good idea to investigate this area to see how to proceed.

Another similar report to the traffic by device is the traffic by browsers. This report helps determine what browsers are being used to access your website. The reason this report is beneficial is that it helps you determine which browsers have the best conversion rate and how best to build your website so that it works for all your users. This information can also be beneficial for your development staff to see when they don’t want to support older browsers. If only 1% of your visitors are using Internet Explorer, and 90% are using Chrome, it’s clear to see where to focus development efforts.
