How to be Responsive to Your Audience on Social Media
These days, a lot of businesses are focused on social media engagement.
Engagement refers to the level of your audience that is interacting with your content, whether that includes likes, follows, saves, comments, messages– anything. Analytics shows us that high engagement can be attributed to better social media marketing performance. There are many ways you can improve the engagement, however, what we want to recommend today is that you also focus on being responsive to it.
When you’re responsive to the engagement you’re receiving, you’re more likely to encourage more. For instance, replying to a comment you receive might encourage another comment reply. It may also encourage more people to leave comments, because they might get replies from you. Best case scenario, it may even encourage your viewers to keep commenting on your content as a whole because you’ll reply to them.
Social media pages with high responsiveness are actually shown to get more engagement overall.
So, while we recommend trying to encourage engagement, we also think it’s crucial for you to reply to it properly. Don’t get carried away looking for ways to get more comments if you can’t keep up with replying to at least MOST of the comments you’re receiving.
How else can you be responsive to audience engagement? Reply to ALL of the ways they’re interacting with your business! This includes replies to comments as well as messages. You may also want to return likes and follows, especially if the follower is within your ideal audience. You can also reply to common questions publicly to show that you’re listening to your audience as a whole.
To take it to the next level, try out something your audience has been requesting that you do! For instance, if your audience has been requesting a new menu item for a long time, give it a try! Share that you’re creating it because of how many awesome suggestions you got from your audience. They’ll love feeling seen and heard.
