How to Establish Your Brand – Business Values
Whether you’re starting a new business or re-vamping your current one, creating a brand can be difficult. That’s why we’re here to help! We have a long history of helping businesses establish their brands, including their appearance, voice, and more. Today, we’d like to share how you can start establishing your values as a brand.
Every business likely has values already established, whether they know it or not. This may include your own personal opinions or values, or things you’ve decided you want to focus on in your work. This may be things like: eco-friendliness, using ethically-sourced or U.S. based products, focusing on quality or low cost, and more. Whatever you have in mind as a business practice or preference, you can share this as a part of your brand values.
So, what are some ways you can establish these values with your current and potential clients? Here’s what we suggest:
1. Add aspects of it into your business name or slogan –
If there’s a way to include mention of your biggest value into these places, they’ll get noticed the most often. For example, the business EcoGreen offers eco-friendly cleaning.
2. Share messages about it through marketing – Your values should at least occasionally be mentioned across all platforms you use for marketing. This includes your social media, email newsletters, print ads, your website, and more!
3. Add it into your social media profiles –
Think of how you can concisely share your biggest value and include it in your social media profiles. This may be really easy on Facebook, where you have the highest character allowance in your bio, but more difficult on Instagram, where you have minimal space. (In this case, you may want to create a Highlight about your values!)
4. Show that you care about the topic by educating about it –
For example, if your business believes in giving back to the local community, share about how you do so. This may include pictures of you attending a community event or volunteering at a nonprofit, numbers about how much you’ve raised as a business, or sharing information like personal stories, links, or infographics about why you care. This may be something like sharing a statistic about how much nonprofits rely on their local communities.
Sharing your brand values not only helps to further create an identity for your business, but it can really help your potential clients relate with and connect to your business. It may even convince some of your current clients to become truly brand loyal to you, because they care about the same things. Whenever possible, we recommend sharing something about what you care about, either personally or as a business.
