How Can Links Improve Your SEO?

Types

There are two types that can improve your website SEO:

Internal links – Links that lead to an address elsewhere on your website

External links – Links that lead to an address off of your website

Search engines like Google like to see both kinds, preferably at least one of each type per page. So, we’d like to explain some ways in which you can add these in and use them to your advantage:

1. Add internal links when topics overlap – When you mention a topic on one page of your website that relates to another page, turn the phrase into an internal link. Why? Because this provides a flow to the pages visited by your viewers, where they can easily visit the related page to learn more.

2. Add external links for sources – If you’re sharing educational information on your website, linking to sources will help your credibility. Simply turn the phrase you’re mentioning from an article into a link so that your viewers can see your source– just make sure it’s a trusted one.

3. Use either type of links as your calls to action – You can easily use internal links to guide your visitors to your contact page, forms, or the scheduling page of your website. Meanwhile, external ones can lead them to your social media pages, calling you directly, reading off-site reviews, or getting directions via map software.
